Eleanor had always believed in decisive action. She was a woman carved from old money and older discipline, with pearl earrings, iron posture, and the kind of calm that made cruelty look like management. Her husband had died when Ethan was nineteen, leaving her with a son, a company legacy, and no patience for anything she considered weakness. Sarah interfered.
